Battle of the Atlantic

In my father’s same photo album where he kept the photos of his time stationed on the HMSC Middlesex, these photos were also displayed. He wrote first hand captions under the photos depicting the sea battle. It appeared he was there in the thick of the battle. I recall my father telling me the stories of capturing the German u-boat crew and how his commanding officer thought he could translate as his last name was Wolfhard. When I first drafted his Navel career, I included these photos in his time line.  I forwarded the page to a good friend who is a navel historian for some clarity.

He replied back to me quite quickly that dad was never there in that battle! It was months before he enlisted. On further inspection, I noticed that while the photos were in the same album, they were slightly larger. They were the exact photos that are found on the website-

The only explanation I can come up with is that Dad wanted to prove his maturity to his parents and crafted the stories with the photos. I’ll never know for sure but it makes a good story!
